It was not uncommon for customers to come to us with a task that seemed impossible to solve. Digital printing on silicone? Metallisation of plastic surfaces? The finishing of real metal?

Three times: Yes! When expertise, passion and just the right people come together, magic happens. And suddenly, vague ideas and rough concepts become achievable. From the fridge to the toothbrush, from the ignition key to the aircraft seal, from the baby bottle to the remote control – surfaces today have to meet a whole host of requirements. From the geometry of the components, through electrical or haptic functions, to photorealistic design or the gloss level of paint.

Next time you fly, pay particular attention to the armrest on your seat. If it feels pleasant to the touch and also looks great, the coating could well be ours.

For that was precisely what our task was: we were to apply a coating to the silicone armrests in aeroplanes to provide them with extra protection against wear and tear, thereby ensuring they last considerably longer.

Rest your suitcase on it, climb on it, play around with it… until now, the armrest was a part subject to wear and tear that had to be replaced time and time again.

So, together with our client, a silicone processor, we developed the perfect solution. They supplied the silicone material and the moulded part; we provided the finish.

The result? Magic. The armrests now stand out thanks to a significantly longer service life, a much more pleasant feel and high fire resistance.
